Utopia

I envision a world where social media platforms genuinely contribute to making the world a more beautiful, diverse, and better place – where technology helps bring people closer together, fostering understanding and compassion rather than dividing societies. The platforms are capable of this. Unfortunately, at present, it seems that algorithms are primarily designed by young, white, male, highly privileged individuals who are not democratically accountable and who pursue one goal above all: increasing profits quarter after quarter. It’s time for the tech elite to live up to their responsibilities. The climate crisis shows that companies are able to reset their priorities, focusing on regenerative practices and the common good. Silicon Valley can do the same.
