"Technology can not only destroy us but also assist us in overcoming some of our greatest challenges. (...) Humanity faces immense potential, where we could conquer the great scourges of hunger, disease, and death."
Yuval Noah Harari in Homo Deus

Utøpiå invites us to rethink the future of democracy in the era of artificial intelligence. AI is rapidly transforming our society—whether in the workplace, communication, or political processes. However, with this revolution comes the question: Are we flexible enough to actively shape this change rather than merely react to it? The technological advancements brought about by artificial intelligence present unprecedented opportunities in human history, but they also come with significant risks. How can we ensure that AI supports the common good rather than exacerbating societal inequalities?

In this vision of the future, we aim to design a Utøpiå where artificial intelligence, human rights, economic prosperity, social justice, and environmental protection go hand in hand. Stability and democracy are at the heart of this concept. We particularly look to countries in Scandinavia and New Zealand—places that already impress with their progressive democracies and strong social balance. Here, we can learn how innovative technologies and human values can be harmoniously integrated into stable societal models.

Our vision of Utøpiå seeks to demonstrate that it is possible to connect democracy and artificial intelligence—not as adversaries, but as partners for a fairer, more sustainable future. Together, we want to explore how we can leverage AI to drive a better, more equitable coexistence, with a special focus on those countries that are already more successful than many others.
